Lessons are one-to-one and live on Zoom or Google Meet, with male and female teachers who are Al-Azhar graduates holding ijazah with a connected sanad. What is the Noorani Qaida?

The Noorani Qaida (Al-Qaida An-Nuraniya) is a beginner’s method for reading Arabic as it is written in the Quran. Together with the similar Noor Al-Bayan method, it starts from single letters and builds step by step to full words and verses. Your teacher chooses the method that suits the student’s age and level after the free trial lesson.

What your child learns, step by step

  1. Single letters: the shape, name and correct sound of each Arabic letter.
  2. Short vowels: fatha, damma and kasra, and reading letters with them.
  3. Long vowels (madd): how alif, waw and ya lengthen a sound.
  4. Sukun, shadda and tanween: joining sounds into real words.
  5. Reading from the Mushaf: applying everything to actual Quranic words and verses.

Why one-to-one lessons work best for beginners

A child who speaks English all day at school often struggles with sounds that do not exist in English, such as ḥa, ʿayn, qaf and ḍad. In a group class there is little time to correct each child. In a one-to-one lesson the teacher hears every letter, repeats it with the student until it is right, and moves at the student’s own pace.

Who are these classes for?

  • Children who are starting to read the Quran. Parents can follow their child’s lessons and choose a male or female teacher for boys; girls are taught by female teachers only.
  • Adults who never learned to read Arabic, or who read with mistakes and want a correct foundation.
  • Women who prefer a female teacher; all women are taught by female teachers, and the camera is optional.

After the Qaida: starting Quran memorization

Once the student reads confidently from the Mushaf, they move on to memorization, usually starting with the short surahs. Read more in Online Hifdh Program for Beginners and Private Online Quran Lessons with Azhar Tutors.
