🎯 Who it is for: children (after learning the letters), older learners, non-Arabic speakers, and anyone who wants to overcome illiteracy in Arabic directly through the words of Allah.
⏱ Duration: a flexible path depending on how quickly the student learns and on their ability in dictation and copying.
📖 About the course: How wonderful for the Holy Quran to be your first textbook, and its verses the first thing your right hand writes and your eyes read! At Al-Azhar Message Academy we designed this course as a solid bridge between learning the basics of Arabic and a spiritual connection with the Book of Allah.
Instead of relying on ordinary teaching texts, this program uses the “noble mushaf” as its main curriculum. Step by step, Al-Azhar male and female teachers will train you in comfortable one-to-one classes (1-on-1) to spell words and read verses smoothly, with practical application (copying and dictation from memory). Most importantly, you will learn the secrets of the “Uthmani script” (the way the mushaf is written, which differs from ordinary spelling), so that by the end of the course you can open the mushaf and read and write any verse with confidence and precision.
💡 Course goals (what will the student achieve by the end of the program?):
Overcoming awe of the mushaf: getting used to the look of the mushaf’s pages and the way it is written, removing hesitation or fear of reading independently.
Understanding the secrets of the Uthmani script: distinguishing precisely between modern Arabic spelling and Quranic writing (such as the dagger alif, the round zero, and words written in a special way like aṣ-ṣalāh and az-zakāh).
Strengthening visual and muscle memory: improving handwriting and reinforcing memorization of verses through copying the Quran, as the Companions and scholars did to secure their memorization.
Preparing for the rules of tajweed: full readiness to join tajweed and memorization courses, since the student will be able to spell quickly without language barriers.
Earning blessing and multiplied reward: combining the reward of learning the language of the ḍād with the reward of reading and copying verses of the Quran (for every letter you read or write there is a good deed).
📚 Program plan and learning stages:
Level one: Quranic spelling (vowels and diacritics)
Identifying letter shapes and joining them by practising short words from Juz ‘Amma.
Reading Quranic words with vowels (fatḥah, kasrah, ḍammah) and copying them clearly in a notebook.
Practising the correct pen grip for children while writing verses.
Level two: rules of the Uthmani script (secrets of the mushaf)
Studying madd, tanwīn, sukūn and shaddah and finding them directly in the verses.
Mushaf specialization: practising the marks specific to the Uthmani script (letters that are pronounced but not written, and vice versa).
Copying short verses while carefully transferring the exact diacritics from the mushaf to the notebook.
Level three: fluency, dictation and stopping
Continuous reading of whole surahs while learning the meaning of the stopping and starting signs in the noble mushaf (mīm, lā, jīm, ṣalā, qalā).
Dictation from memory: the Azhari teacher reads the verse and the student writes it from memory, following the rules of the Uthmani script.
Graduating by copying a whole surah in the student’s own handwriting – an achievement to be proud of.
